President Bola Tinubu reiterated his commitment to the education sector by commissioning TETFUND blocks of classrooms and offices valued at N1.12 billion at the University of Ibadan and The Polytechnic Ibadan, respectively.

The commissioned projects include the construction of the Department of Architecture Building and the construction of blocks of offices and classrooms for the Faculty of Technology valued at N651.1 million at the University of Ibadan. Additionally, blocks of classrooms and offices for the Faculties of Business and Communication Studies, Financial Management Studies, and Science were commissioned at The Polytechnic Ibadan.

This initiative adds to sponsoring 213 lecturers for postgraduate studies in various disciplines.

President Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, emphasized that these projects would significantly enhance learning, teaching, and the overall improvement of academic standards. He reiterated the integral role of education in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the Federal Government’s continuous commitment to supporting educational institutions to achieve global competitiveness and technological advancements.

“It is on record that over the years, TETFund, through the support of the Federal Government, has performed exceptionally in the provision of physical infrastructure, support for academic staff training and development, book publication, ICY, Research and Development, amongst others in public tertiary education across the country,” he stated.

The Vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, expressed gratitude for TETFUND’s intervention, noting that it came during the institution’s 75th founders’ anniversary. He highlighted that the building has played a crucial role in helping the department secure accreditation for some of its courses. Prof. Adebowale also called for the speedy completion of proposed infrastructure projects, including a transmission substation, transformers, and the resuscitation of the solar inverter project.

The Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi, also commended TETFUND’s intervention, noting that the institution has become a major beneficiary with three faculty buildings, three lecture theatres, and equipment for various programs.

Arch. Babatunde Olajide, representing the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, assured that TETFUND would continue its efforts to uplift tertiary institutions nationwide to ensure adequate and standard education.
