He was never an active politician in Osun until 2004. With the Support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he came and lunched Oranmiyan. During that period all the AD Leaders then gave him support. But for the support of the Progressive family in Osun, perhaps Aregbesola highest political office would have been a Commissioner.
He came in through the court in 2010 as Governor after party faithful laid down their lives and gave all they had to bring Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to power in Osun.
In 2014, through a combination of forces, he won his reelection by over 100, 000 votes difference. But despite this, he never appreciated the grace of God, instead he worked tirelessly to destroy the party that gave him the platform.
Therefore, shortly after his re-election the fortune of APC began to decline owing to half salary and other policies and programmes which the people considered as inimical to the growth and development of the Osun. Under Aregbesola, one month salary was paid four times.
By 2017, the people revolted. Under Aregbesola, APC lost Osun West Senatorial District by- election 1-9. That signal a complete decline in APC fortune in the State. The victory emboldened the PDP and that was how a Ademola had the audacity to say he wants to govern Osun.
By 2018 governorship, the APC candidate got a little above 250, 000 votes. But by 2019, the first election to be supervised by Oyetola, the APC won 23 out of the 26 available seats in the State House of Assembly, won 6 out of the nine federal House of Reps seats and 2 out of the three senate seats.
And in 2022, he increased the APC votes from 250, 000 to over 375,000. But for the connivance role Aregbesola and associates played to manipulate the process in favour Adeleke, APC would not be in court today. So, what are they planning to say in the so called World Press Conference today?
Aregbesola and his associates, who obviously are in the minority have no moral authority to chart way forward for the APC in Osun. Genuine APC members must beware of these never do well individuals who believe that unless they are in charge, the House must collapse.
Under Aregbesola, he reduced the Influence of all those he met in the party to nothing and became the alpha and Omega. You dare not not complain about any party choice. At some point, non- Osun indigens were selected as Local Government Chairmen. He enjoyed Grace but he does not seem to appreciate this.
He has continued to work tirelessly and invested resources against the APC in Osun. He has therefore lost that moral right, he lost that honour to even talk about APC in Osun.
