……It’s a poorly copied Job.

Against the backdrop of the formal flag off of the campaign of Senator Bassey Albert Akpan the governorship candidate of Young Progressive Party in Akwa ibom state over the weekend in Uyo, the special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Media, Revd Richard peters has described the exercise as deceitful and the promises made at campaign ground as unrealistic. .

Peters who is also a cleric and Public Affairs analyst lamented that the YPP guber candidate allegedly copied parts of the original ideas espoused by the PDP Guber candidate Pastor Umo Eno in his ARISE Agenda which was made public recently.

According to Peters in a press briefing with journalists in Uyo on Sunday, “I have come across a speech purported to have been made by the Mr Bassey Albert at his Governorship campaign flag-off, which is ridden by nothing short of lies, illusions and fallacious dubious allegations meant obviously to mislead innocent minds in the state.”

He further highlighted, “Such lies and deceit can now explain why this gentleman was recently disgraced from receiving the national honors, having been found wanting in credibility and competence.

“The speech was just a compilation of vain pledges to impress without evidence of how the bloated promises could be achieved. It’s not enough to tell people what you will do without clear details of how you will do it. This is a clear evidence that he copied and rearrange it from Umo Eno’s ARISE AGENDA, but failed to copy it well.

Throwing more light, Revd Peters explained, “For instance, Mr Albert had promised to create 500,000 jobs within two years in office. That is most laughable for a man who couldn’t create any employment opportunity in his over 16 years in public office to do such abracadabra in a space of two years, does desperation to become a governor erode one’s sense of reasoning to the extent of making unrealistic pronouncements?

“The Senator should wake up from the dream that “God put an onerous responsibility on his shoulders to serve the people’ and face the reality of defending the plethora of corruption charges against him by EFCC at the federal high court.

His mere promise of launching first phase of N50 billion Prosperity Trust Fund, three months into office for rural dwellers could be likened to the APC led federal government 2014 campaign promise to make the value of Naira to be equivalent to dollar, one litre of petrol N50; now, where are we? Your answer is as good as mine”.

He further queried, “How could the Senator say he would address the rot in the educational sector by ensuring free and qualitative Education in Primary and Secondary Schools, restoring imprest to Head-teachers to run schools when all those things are observed in the current administration of Mr Udom Emmanuel which it’s resultant effect is the excellent performance in WASSCE examination by students of Akwa Ibom State.

“We all know that Nigeria practices a Federal system of government and no state can operate independently without the centre for Albert to claim that Akwa Ibom economy should not depend on Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) money is the height of deceit. How could Akwa Ibom, a federal state not depend on the FG statutory allocation and survive? Telling us that he would depend on his utopian national and International contacts to run the state is indeed a joke taken too far! Even the deep sea port he proposed to make functional, who would give him licence? Are you going to pick people from the moon? You still need the federal government to achieve all of those”.

He maintained that it was ridiculous to hear the senator said, Akwa Ibom People would no longer continue to live in a State where a few people continue to take decisions for the rest and queried the essence of government and representation.

“His tantrums against the state government is just like a drowning man that clutches at a straw. The question is, at what point did Mr Albert recognize the ‘maladministration, syndicated governance, hopelessness and despair’ he pointed out in Akwa Ibom if not when his self-centered interest could not be granted which compelled him to quit from the PDP primaries to avoid public disgrace.

Throwing stones at a government he has benefitted so much from, for over 16 years, as a Commissioner for eight years, Chairman of inter-ministerial and now a senator is an act of ingratitude to the people and himself too”. He concluded. Continue Reading
