A statement from UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office contained that there will be a Media dialogue to commemorate 2023 World Toilet Day, to be held at Jamil Hotel in Azare.

The statement further contained that, “This is very significant because Katagum LGA was recently certified open defecation free. The dialogue will be an opportunity for Journalists to familiarize with the achievement, the process to achieve it and through your reports, join the advocacy for an open defecation free Bauchi State. And at large, an open defecation free Nigeria.”

The dialogue will be followed by a field trip to identified communities to enable Journalists interact with families and stakeholders who were involved in the process of attaining the status in the LGA.

For World Children’s Day: This year, the WCD aims to bring attention to climate change and its impact on children.

To commemorate World Children’s Day, UNICEF and Journalists will have a field trip to schools in Shira and Zaki LGAs on 17 November.

These schools were supported by UNICEF to incorporate climate change education into their curriculum while the visit will expose participants to the importance of climate change education.

UNICEF in the statement stressed that, “You will also have an opportunity to interact with young climate change enthusiasts.”

According to UNICEF, “The short field trip will be immediately followed by an inter-school quiz competition focusing on issues related to climate change in Azare.”

The participants are drawn from Journalists working in various media organizations in Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Taraba States which make up the Bauchi Field Office of UNICEF.
