Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said Canada didn’t give resources for the US strikes against Houthis in Yemen but supports the strikes.
Trudeau stated this while answering some questions from reporters on the country’s involvement with the strikes in Yemen.
He started by calling strikes by Houthi militia on civilian and commercial vessels “absolutely unacceptable”.
“They’re contrary to international law, they’re contrary to the UN charter.
“This is why members of the international community including Canada… have made a commitment to protect this region and this trade. Canada is supporting what has been done by the United States,” he says in French, according to a translator.
He adds that Canada did not offer “operational resources” for the strikes that he says were “very narrowly targeted”, to prevent the Houthis from attacking sea lanes.
