Ogun State Caretaker Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Prince Ibrahim Adekunle, has again declared that Olaposi Sunday Oginni and his cohorts are not members of the party in the state, noting that the party under his leadership is the only authentic NNPP in the state.

Adekunle noted that Oginni and others were expelled last year by the National Executive Committee of the party on issues bothering on anti-party activities.

The NNPP in Ogun also congratulates members of the party across the country on the party’s victory at Apex Court over the governorship election matter in Kano state.
This was contained in a statement he personally signed on Sunday and made available to journalists by the party’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Olowu Omokehinde.

According to the statement: “This is to inform and reaffirm to the general public and all our bonafide members across the 20 local government areas in Ogun state that the NNPP in Ogun state which is under my watch has no other faction. Anyone portraying him or herself as the state chairman is fake and such act amounts to impersonation.

“He or she is on his or her own and trying to deceive the general public and therefore, the general public should beware of such people and their antics.

“The Prince Ibrahim Adekunle-led NNPP in Ogun state and his caretaker members are the authentic executives recognised by the National body of the party and by extension, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Noting that by any means, the act amounts general public should be aware that “any unknown group of people who are still claiming membership of the party and gather to hold the state meeting in a venue apart from the main NNPP secretariat building in Adatan area of Abeokuta, should be reported to the nearest security agencies, saying they will be prosecuted for impersonation.

“In the same vein, we are equally appealing and directing all the respected media houses, to be cautious of accomodating their contents using NNPP’s platform, because that will amount to impersonation.”

Adekunle, however, said the party in the state still opens its doors to anyone who wishes to join and become an authentic member of the party, saying however such person or persons should pass through all the normal procedures that have been laid down by contacting the officials at the party’s secretariat or its campaign office.

Adekunle said NNPP Ogun state chapter and the national body of the party will continue to protect, defend, promote, and serve the interest of all its members who are fully registered, and they shall be recognised at all times under his leadership.

Recall that the National Executive Committee of the party had earlier expelled the former chairman of the party in Ogun state, Mr Olaposi Sunday Oginni on issues bothering on anti-party activities.
