Godwin Otang, Calabar

A Professor from the department of Organic Chemistry , University of Calabar, Francisca Bassey, has mobilised a group of students under the aegis of Past Students Leaders Forum in support and declaration for the emergence of Prince Bassey Otu, of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Cross River State.

The group declared that the only candidate who is capable of rescuing Cross River state is the APC candidate, Otu, who, according to them, has proven his capability in his dealings with students across the state.

Addressing journalist about their resolve, Professor Bassey explained that, “It is not a difficult candidate to sell, we have seen, and am concerned about the welfare of our youths, because they are my children, I am appealing to the youths to come together and support a man who has your interest at heart, he has been a unionist like you, so I have all the confidence that am doing the right thing. We must together built and safe our state.

“Our youths have all left the country because of bad management, we are here to declare our support for prince Otu, and we have confidence in him that he will not let us down.”

Also speaking, Comrade John Fidelis Inaku, a member of the group also explained that, “this time we do not want to sit and wait , we want to be actively involved in the process, we are not satisfied with the state of education in our state, that’s why we have sought to know who has done it before and will do it again, and that person is Prince Otu, who is accessible and not a tyrant.

“The youths have been grossly underestimated, almost every youth has the capacity to be an entrepreneur, we have passed the era where people are often promised white cola jobs, we are asking for one who can create an enabling environment for youths to thrive, we believe that with Prince Bassey Otu we are assured of tomorrow.”

The group, however, said they will accept whatever outcome surfaces from the Saturday March 18 polls, only if the system is credible and fare. The group warned INEC that the system next Saturday should be free, fare and credible.
