Members of the Governing Council of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke, has disclosed their readiness to work harmoniously with the management of the institution to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the college through expansion and extension of academic programmes.

They also promised to function harmoniously with the college management in ensuring compliance with issues such as government policies and separation of power.

The Governing Council Chairman, Prince Diran Odeyemi made the pledge at a
3-Day retreat programme harped on the importance of cooperation between the management and the council which was
organized by the management of the college for members of the 9th governing council of the school.

Speaking further at the retreat held from Monday, 18th December through Wednesday 20th December, 2023 at Prinaj Hotel, Ere ljesa, Prince Odeyemi affirmed that, the council will work with the management to ensure fairness in the discipline of staff, respect the rule of law and follow due process in the contract administration with timely delivery.

However, in a communique made available to our reporter at the end of the event, a copy received by Tribune Online on Friday, quoted that the governing council chairman, Prince Odeyemi, appreciating the management for the retreat, adding that it has “equipped the council with better understanding of the administration of polytechnics and its duties to the college community.”

Part of the communique read, “That the Council will function harmoniously with the college management in ensuring compliance with administrative issues such as government policies, separation of power, protection of academic tradition.

“That the council and the management will make the college a corruption and crisis-free environment by ensuring fairness in the discipline of staff, respect the rule of law and follow due process in the contract administration with timely delivery.

“That council and the management became more determined to work harmoniously with high level of understanding in order to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the college through expansion/extension of academic programmes that can project and sustain the college in order to place it ahead of other similar institutions within and outside Osun State.

“That Budget preparation and implementation be all inclusive, embracing and put every aspect of the college programmes and projects into consideration; while implementation be strictly made in compliance with extant rules and laws.

“That the council will use every paraphernalia medium, links and connection towards improving the physical environment of the college in order to make it a siren and attractive place for the students, staff and the visitors.

“That governing council as the highest decision making body for the college pledged to make the college a conducive environment, be fair, justifiable and tension free while the welfare of both the staff and students will take priority among other tasks and undertakings.

“That the council will improve on social and media publicity of the College so as to increase the students’ enrolment for the regular and part-time programmes.”

In his own contributions the institution’s Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke appreciated the council chairman and members. He expressed the readiness of the management to continue to work harmoniously with the council.

At the programme, facilitators were of the opinion that lack of cooperation will have adverse effect on the academic growth of the institution and the retreat was attended by the state Commissioner for Education, members of the college management and the governing council of the institution.

One of the guest speakers at the Programme, Dr. Oginni warned people not to stress themselves saying, it is dangerous for their health.

He, however, charged all and sundry to plan their schedules well adding that, they should not allow themselves to be over used by whosoever to be able to get a good health.
