Youths in Bogoro Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State have distanced themselves from the recent roadblocks in Tafawa Balewa town that have disrupted the free flow of traffic in the area.

The youth from the three villages of Bogoro, Boi, and Lusa converged at the Bogoro LGA headquarters on Thursday to show their solidarity with the State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, and the Caretaker Chairman of Bogoro LGA, Hon Markus Bitrus Lusa.

According to representatives of the group, Mr Zakka Yusuf, Bogoro, Mr Diminta Yakubu from Boi, and Mr Ishaku Godiya, Lusa, “We want the whole world to know that we are dissociating ourselves from the blocking of roads and all forms of criminality going on in Tafawa Balewa. Sir, we want to tell you that youths in Bogoro, Boi, and Lusa are not part of what is going on in Tafawa Balewa.”

The youths declared their loyalty to the state government, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Bogoro LGA, and the traditional rulers in Bogoro LGA, stating that they “stand with you, we will live in peace.”

In response, Hon Markus Bitrus Lusa expressed his appreciation for the visit and urged the youths to respect constituted authorities. He also assured the youths that the government would not succumb to any form of intimidation, stating that “nobody is too big before the law, and that the government will continue to do what is right.”

The Chairman further lamented the loss of lives and properties, missed exams, and the inability of people to continue their businesses since the beginning of the roadblocks. He urged the youths to remain peaceful and not allow anyone to use them to achieve personal interests.

The group’s message has been forwarded to the state government for prompt action, as stated by Gomna James, Information Officer Bogoro LGA, Bauchi State.
