Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known by his stage name K1 De Ultimate, has informed President Bola Tinubu that Nigerians are suffering and upset with his government as a result of the current situation of the economy.

In a video clip from one of his most recent live performances, which came to light on Thursday, K1 made this statement.

Delivering his message in Yoruba, the Fuji legend who is well-known for being a devoted supporter of the President begged him to find answers to the numerous problems that the people are facing.

Following the departure of previous President Muhammadu Buhari and the inauguration of the new administration on May 29, 2023, the nation’s economic woes have gotten much worse.

On the day of his inauguration, Tinubu said that his administration would no longer subsidise petroleum, calling for a stop to the financing because it was beneficial to neighbouring countries.

His decision made the price of the Premium Motor Spirit rise from N185 to over N600.

In line with his administration’s financial sector reforms, the Central Bank of Nigeria floated the naira, causing it to decline steadily against the US dollar and move towards interest rates set by the market.

Because of this action, the value of the naira relative to the dollar has fluctuated, selling for between N1,200 and N1,500.

Speaking truth to power, K1 expressed that Nigerians are in tears and implored the President to find a speedy solution to the issues before the opposition exploits this to attack his government.

“I plead with you to find a solution to the plight of the masses. The citizens are crying and wailing. We’re suffering amid a lack of adequate power supply. How did things get to this point? I implore you to fix these problems,” K1 sang in the video.

“Listen to the complaints of the masses and treat such complaints with all seriousness.

“We know you to be a philanthropist, but we Nigerians are angry. The people of Nigeria are angry.

“The traders in this country are not happy. Look at what the dollar has become (a reference to the exchange rate),” K1 added.
