Council members of the Zamfara Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (ZACCIMA) have sacked its president Alhaji Sani Ibrahim Maikanwa during the Annual General Meeting and appointed new executives to run the affairs in the state.

The ZACCIMA Council members during its annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held on Sunday in Gusau unanimously passed vote of no confidence in the leadership of Sani Ibrahim Maikanwa for the progress and smooth running of the chamber.

According to the council members of ZACCIMA, they wrote a letter to the Zamfara state commissioner of commerce notifying him of the wrongdoing of the chamber president Sani Maikanwa in the state.

The letter addressed to the Commissioner reads in parts: we humbly write on behalf of the teeming EXCOs and council members of this chamber of commerce to forward this letter to your noble and respected office to bring to your office the information of the wrongdoings taking place in our chamber of commerce here in Gusau, Zamfara which the council members have unanimously cast a vote of no confidence against the leadership of Sani Ibrahim Maikanwa for the progress and smooth running of the chamber.

“In view of the above therefore, you may wish to note the following misconducts committed by Sani Ibrahim Maikanwa accordingly”.

“That President Sani Maikanwa fraudulently diverted and deposited the sum of ten million naira N10,000,000.00 into his personal bank account”.

“Hence, the money has not been accounted for up to the time of writing this petition.

Sani maikanwa single-handedly runs the affairs of the chamber without involving or consulting the EXCO or council members of the chamber.

“In the same vein, Sani Maikanwa abuses his power vested on him by the constitution of the chamber by taking decisions based on his own personal interest without due consultations with the members of the chamber which in turn created unhealthy relationships among the council members”.

Those selected to run the affairs of ZACCIMA included Dr Hassan Buhari as president, Abubakar Chika Galadima Deputy president, Engineer Bello Hassan, and Alhaji Garba Tigana to serve as Vice president among others.

In his acceptance speech, the newly appointed ZACCIMA president Dr Hassan Buhari Tafidan Maradun revealed that it was with all sense of responsibility that he accepted the position of president.

“I painstakingly considered this role viz a viz my other responsibilities and arrived at the conclusion that it is a role and task that I should take on to contribute my little quota to the lives of the members of our association and development of the commercial activities to significantly impact on the economy of our dear state by returning back to past glorious days”.

According to him, he has been in the industry for over two decades and is presently the chairman of 3 companies.

Among his agenda, he assured to work closely with federal and state government through effective collaboration to improve the lives of our members, he therefore sought support, advice, and prayers to be able to achieve the set agenda for the chamber in the state.

“As a word of advice we must stand firm and resolute to replace dishonesty with transparency division with reconciliation for the overall benefit of the members of the association”.
