Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, continued the distribution of agricultural inputs and assets across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) on Sunday saying that the planned rebirth of the area has commenced.

With a stimulus package empowerment for over 100,000 farmers across the 14 LGAs involving essential farm assets in the next four years, Lawal said the state would attain food security, more so with the recent launch of the Community Protection Guards (CPG).

Distribution of the agricultural assets is under the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic FADAMA 111 Stimulus Package, according to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

Idris said that Lawal spoke in Kauran Namoda while flagging off the distribution of the inputs in that LGA arguing that, “under my stewardship as your Governor, Zamfara State will witness a renaissance in agricultural production and other sectors of our economy.

“With the recent inauguration of the Askarawa (CPG), in addition to the numerous other measures we have implemented to improve the security situation across the state, I hope that farmers who have been unable to access their farms due to threats from bandits can now do so.

“Some other projects of my government in Kauran Namoda LGA include the ongoing renovation and furnishing and equipping of the General Hospital Kaura Namoda, construction of buildings for the College of Legal and Islamic Studies, Kaura Namoda, construction of a Zonal Youth Centre and the completion of a Remand Home, construction of the zonal education office, construction of Women Continued Education Centre, Kaura Namoda, construction of additional structures at the General Hospital, construction of Emirs palace and a host of other projects,” the Governor said.

The statement said that Lawal had earlier distributed vital agricultural assets to farmers in Birnin Magaji and Zurmi LGAs where he also raised awareness about the stimulus package being rolled out across the three senatorial zones.
“The goal is to encourage beneficiaries to use the stimulus wisely, achieving the set objectives of food security.
“This stimulus will significantly boost the productivity of farmers in Birnin Magaji LGA.

“Some other important projects of my administration in Birnin Magaji LGA include the ongoing total renovation and furnishing of GSS Birnin Magaji, construction of a road from Gidan Bita-Maikosa Mallankara-Dandogo-Gamo-Naniya-Kukoki Kwacho-Birnin Magaji road, construction of Dakitakwas-Birnin Magaji road and a host of other projects.

“In Zurmi LGA, the Governor urged the beneficiaries of the stimulus package to use the opportunity wisely, enhance their production and improve their standard of living.

“Apart from the distribution of farm inputs, Zurmi Local Government Area will benefit from several projects under the 2024 budget. “These projects include the ongoing renovation and furnishing/equipping of GGDSS Zurmi, the general renovation of General Hospital Zurmi, the construction of the Zurmi-Rukudawa road, the renovation of the Magistrate Court and a host of other projects.

“I would like to use this opportunity to call on all the people of Zurmi Local Government Area to extend maximum support and cooperation to the Community Protection Guards (Askarawan Zamfara) to secure our communities.”
