The Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa kingdom, HRM Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe and Governor of the State of Osun, His Excellency Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, his deputy His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa Kingdom, HRM Oba (Dr) Akeem Olusayo Ogungbamigbe attended this year 2021 Iwude Ijesa festival, held in Ilesa, Osun State, while the immediate past governor, Minister of Interior, Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola was conspicuously absent.

 

The paramount ruler of Iloko-Ijesa expressed his happiness for the grace in participating in this year’s edition of the Iwude Ijesa celebration as Owaloko.

 

The Iwude Ijesa festival formally kicked off with the recitation of the Nigerian National Anthem, Osun State Anthem, Ijesa Anthem and the opening prayer said by a man of God.

 

Other dignitaries at the event included Onitsha monarch represented by two of his chiefs; Osun State Speaker, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, House of representative member, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Israel Famurewa, Osun Commissioner for works, Hon. Remi Omowaye, Oriade Council Boss Hon. Bunmi Obeisun; and other traditional rulers, The Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, HRM Oba Moses Olufemi Agunsoye, Abikehin-Ekun Agunsoye II, Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa, HRM Oba Ogidiolu Adewumi Amos the Otokobo II, and Olomo of Omo- Ijesa

 

Owaloko congratulated HRH Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, The Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland for witnessing another Iwude Ijesa event which he said, had surpassed others of its kind in splendour.

 

 

“I congratulate all of us here who have been able to see this event once more and above all I thank God Almighty for preserving our Kabiyesi’s life.

 

“I congratulate the Owa-Obokun and the entire people of Ijesaland,”

 

The traditional ruler levied the Nigerian government to encourage ancient languages and culture as they play major roles in national development, expressing that our mother tongue and usage would greatly be enhanced.

 

 

“Its very dominant for us that our culture, tradition and birthright is keyed into every sociocultural development of our nation. Our culture is our culture as we can’t grow or borrow culture; you can see how beautiful the Yoruba culture is. So far, so good,” the monarch said.
