The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has attacked the immediate past governor of the state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over claims of victory in the 2023 gubernatorial elections in the state.
The party in a statement signed by the state commissioner for information, Sambo Bello Danchadi, said the main opposition party must be thoroughly deluded to imagine that it won the 2023 poll in the state.
APC said PDP’s claim that the election was “manipulated” against its candidate, Alhaji Sa’aidu Umar was both ridiculous and insulting to thousands of Sokoto people who voted massively for the ruling party and its governorship candidate, now Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
The State Commissioner of Information said PDP was rejected by the people at the poll due to its abysmal performance while in power in the state.
Recently while addressing the party supporters and stakeholders in Sokoto, the former Governor of the State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal claimed that PDP did not lose the 2023 governorship election in the state but was robbed of victory.
Danchadi explained that Tambuwal should have saved his speech after the holy month of Ramadan because there was no truth in it.
“For the former Governor to state that PDP won the 2023 Governorship election in the state, but was robbed of victory amounted to the desecration of the holy month,” he said.
He stated that the PDP only won a majority of votes in five local governments out of twenty-three of the state.
The commissioner further noted that APC not only won the election but has justified its victory by addressing the issues over which the election was contested.
He said in the area of security the state is now settled than when PDP was in power in the state.
He stated that the departure of the PDP from the Sokoto government house is a case of good riddance and is still celebrated by our people.
He maintained that the administration will soon be one year in office stressing they are looking forward to inaugurating projects than eight years of PDP in the state.
Danchadi said it is pertinent to advise Tambuwal to open his eyes to political reality in the state.
