As the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) celebration kicks off, Brother Across Nigeria (BAN) in HAWAII FRIGATE provided baby materials for numerous nursing mothers in Osun state urged Nigerians to become advocates of exclusive breastfeeding, and support mothers to practice optimal breastfeeding for the good of the great Nation.

 

 

The members of the Brother Across Nigeria (BAN) said that this year’s edition of WBW with the global theme Protect Breastfeeding: a Shared Responsibility, is an opportunity for, “all political leaders, Association, policymakers, legislators, women, men, religious leaders, families, communities, workplaces, the private sector, individuals and indeed every Nigerian to take responsibility and join hands to raise awareness on the huge benefits of breastfeeding.”

 

 

The Frigate Captain’s speech reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to supporting exclusive breastfeeding in the country, noting that, “the Federal Ministry of Health remains committed to support, protect and promote breastfeeding as a veritable means towards the eradication of childhood malnutrition in all its forms.

 

 

The event took place on the 3rd of August 2022 at Wesley General Hospital, Adeti Primary Health Center Ilesa. The State Co-Ordinator, Mrs. Adebola Adeosun, in his remark noted the value of breastfeeding for mothers as well as children. He noted the importance of recommended exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, and then supplemented breastfeeding for at least one year and up to two years or more.

 

 

The provision of baby materials to nursing mothers was part of the humanitarian activities of BROTHERS ACROSS NIGERIA aimed at the betterment of society.
