The chancellor of Anchor University, Lagos, Professor Samuel Bandele, has commended the students of the institution who featured and won the top prize in the undergraduate category of the Science and Technology Research Competition held in Lagos recently.

He said they had really done the university proud with their outstanding performance.

The research competition, which was organised by the Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) for tertiary school students was won by the trio of Samuel Oluwatosin Olabisi (200 Level), Prisca Feyikemi Osasona (200 Level), and Christian Udoh (400 Level), all from Physics/Electronic Department of Anchor University.

Their research was on ‘Design and Implementation of Double-edged Scalable Power Generator.’

The chancellor, in a statement made available by the university, explained that the students were able to win the prize based on hard work and commitment to studies and other activities expected of them as students.

According to him, Anchor University is grooming its students to become global graduates with good character and who will do well in their chosen fields and also contribute significantly to the world economy even while they are still in school.

Bandele, who also declared that Anchor University parades seasoned academic and non-academic staff, said they are always ready to impact positively on students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He said the evidence for this has shown in the students’ outstanding performance in the research competition, adding that he is sure they will win more awards for the school in the future.

Bandele revealed that the three-man team received a laptop and a sum of N800,000 as prize for winning the competition.

In his own commendation, the supervisor of the students and lecturer at the same department, Dr Victor Nwankwo, said he was proud of the team for the feat and urged them to continue to strive for more knowledge and skills.
